AGM 0.0 – Thanks for coming out!

Thank you to everyone that was able to make it out to our First Meeting yesterday.  A special thank you go to our volunteers: Carl, Khris, David, Daniel, Ben, Vanna, Aftan, Jade, Jomar, and Ben (the other Ben).  Another BIG special thanks goes to our sponsors: the Union Centre who graciously donated their space for our use for free, and manager Shelly and her team at Starbucks Broadway for the free coffee.

Our meeting was a huge success with over 30 participants.  Though some of the night was used for introductions to the purpose and functions of the DCRA, a majority  of the time was reserved for getting to know our neighbours and what they think about our downtown.  We lined the walls with post-its commenting on how our downtown community ought to be and how we interact with our neighbourhood currently.  We hope to continue this open dialogue at all of our meetings and we hope to integrate something similar in the future on our website.

SO YES: we are having a meeting this upcoming Thursday at 6:30pm at the Fyxx as we are looking for people that are (a) interested in forming our first Board of Directors or (b) those who are interested in helping us organize our first official AGM 1.0 in the new year.  Please look out for the next meeting minutes as we may change the frequency of our regularly scheduled casual Thursday meetings.

Some of you were also interested in the current draft of the By-laws that we have yet to enact and will enact in the new year at our first AGM.  You’ll find the most up to date By-laws below.  Please note that these are drafts and are open for editing before we enact them.  You’ll also find 2 other documents that go hand in hand with the by-law draft which are also open for editing.

Thanks again everyone.  Hopefully we see you all out at AGM 1.0 in January 2013.

is composed of residents who live in the areas between the Assiniboine River, Memorial Boulevard, Portage Avenue, and the Forks (South Portage, Legislature, and Broadway / Assiniboine communities).

We're building a stronger community, working together, and raising a voice for the Downtown!
